Ontario Cabinet: New Technology Enables Long-Distance Signing of Official Documents
In June 2008, Ontario became the first Canadian government adopter of the LongPen system, a remote-signing technology developed by Unotchit and Quanser. For security reasons, many official documents cannot be sent by fax, mail or general delivery service for signing. With the use of the LongPen system, the documents now can remain in the province's cabinet office, while they are signed from other locations. The robotic arm precisely replicates the signature of the person at the remote location signing on a tablet with a special pen - with the same speed, cadence and pressure, maintaining high levels of security.

Quanser at Medicine Meets Virtual Reality 16 (MMVR16) Conference
MMVR took place in Long Beach, California, just south of Los Angeles. Although Quanser has been present at the conference in the past, it was its first time as an exhibitor. Quanser's booth was very popular - attracting surgeons, academics and companies interested in medical haptic research and training devices, but also in rehabilitation - drawing the attention with a rehab demonstration system available on-site. The exposure and quality of business discussions at MMVR will likely make this event a "must repeat" for Quanser.

Quanser gets thumbs up in the Design News Magazine
The February 2008 issue of Design News Magazine brings an article on 2007 ASME Technical Conference. Although Quanser did not attend the conference directly, our name was present: When discussing the rising interest in mechatronics, Dr. Jalili of Clemson University pointed out the challenges of fitting more mechatronics studies into an already crowded curriculum. To make it easier for professors to integrate such courses, Dr. Jalili noted the popularity of laboratory kits from Quanser. These educational aids include a variety of components to explore robotics and other mechatronic applications. For the full article, visit www.designnews.com

About 150 medical doctors, physiotherapists, engineers, and other health researchers were gathered at Virtual Rehabilitation Conference.
