WinCon -
Affordable, hard Real-time Control
is here without a DSP!
WinCon is an ideal rapid prototyping and
hardware-in-the-loop simulation workhorse for control system
and signal processing algorithms. A real-time Windows application
that runs Simulink models in real-time on a PC, WinCon allows
for quick and seamless design iterations without the need
to write code by hand. Changes are as easy as modifying your
Simulink diagram. With Wincon you can count on an easy-to-use,
integrated environment that lets you implement your designs
rapidly, without lengthy coding and debugging.
WinCon enables you to create and control a real-time process
entirely through Simulink and execute it entirely independent
of Simulink. With Real-Time Workshop installed, you seamlessly
build C code that results in a Windows executable that is
run by WinCon, allowing you to move beyond simulation and
now control real hardware in hard real-time! WinCon's architecture
ensures that the real-time process is afforded the highest
CPU priority and is not pre-empted by any competing tasks
other than the core OS functions.
WinCon consists of a client and server component referred
to as WinCon Client and WinCon Server. Amongst many possible
configurations, WinCon can communicate via the Internet
allowing you to download controllers anywhere in the world
and control them remotely! You can change controller parameters
on the fly while the controller runs. You can plot real-time
data and save it straight into the MATLAB workspace or to
file.
WinCon provides several ways to view signals
that are completely independent of Simulink: Real-time scopes,
digital meters, x-y plots and thermometer graphs are part
of an extensive customizable interface that also includes
ActiveX Control Panels. These components extend WinCon's versatility,
allowing you to control any model parameter without Simulink
open or even installed! The Controller and Control Panels
together comprise a WinCon Project. These are self-contained
controllers and Active X buttons and sliders that allow you
to tune the controller on the fly. All model parameters are
available to you for plotting or control.
