AI’s rapid advancement is transforming our world, and academia, as a key driver of this change, faces the challenge of balancing rapid implementation with a long-term vision for lab infrastructures and educational programs. Whether you’re creating or enhancing a comprehensive AI lab across multiple levels and disciplines, equipping students with industry-level skills, or pushing the boundaries of innovation in applied AI and autonomous systems, the need for turnkey lab solutions that deliver real-world performance and adapt to the evolving AI landscape has never been greater. At Quanser, in collaboration with academia, we’ve tackled these challenges over the past five years with our Self-Driving Car Studio (SDCS), now utilized by 150 institutions across 25 countries. Building on this success, we’ve re-invented the SDCS with the QCar 2, offering 200x more power, enhanced vision, and superior maneuverability—redefining what’s possible in AI education and research.

The SDCS has set a new standard in education, research, project-based learning, and outreach for autonomous systems and applied AI in engineering and computer science programs. The QCar 2, with unparalleled computational power, advanced vision systems, and enhanced maneuverability, is the most powerful and versatile platform in its class. As the only 1/10th scale car with AI-based self-driving capabilities comparable to full-sized vehicles, it features an integrated NVIDIA Jetson Orin AGX—the most advanced GPU for edge-node self-driving research, surpassing many real-world car systems. This setup enables the fastest, safest, and most cost-effective lab setups.

This AI-ready product is part of the Quanser ecosystem, including digital twins in Quanser Interactive Labs, extensive Python and MATLAB Simulink resources, powerful real-time software APIs with QUARC and Quanser SDK, and expert faculty consultations. It’s software-agnostic and supports over 20 AI and machine learning APIs, making applied AI more accessible than ever.
